CPSHI Co-Sponsors Annual Conference on Water and Health

CHAPEL HILL, NC – AED's Center for Private Sector Health Initiatives (CPSHI) was a proud co-sponser of the University of North Carolina (UNC) at Chapel Hill event: Water and Health: Where Science Meets Policy. The event, held October 23–26 in Chapel Hill, drew over 350 experts in the fields of maternal and child health, water, sanitation, and hygiene.

On October 25, CPSHI also supported the launch of the Water Institute at UNC's Gillings School of Public Health. Through research, education and knowledge dissemination, the Water Institute's aims "to bring together individuals and institutions from diverse disciplines and sectors and empower them to work together to solve the most critical global issues in water and health." The institute's work is driven by five core principles:

  • Focus on the interfaces between water, health and development
  • Build sustained, effective and diverse partnerships
  • Pursue excellence by partnering with committed organizations and individuals
  • Provide academic leadership
  • Work from local to global levels, and from source to tap.
