Christian Winger

Christian Winger serves as Project Director for three separate projects:  the USAID-funded CHAMPION project, which is changing male gender roles on HIV in Tanzania, the USAID-funded Kenya Nutrition and HIV/AIDS Program (NHP), which provides food by prescription to Kenyans with severe acute malnutrition, and the KfW-funded CARISMA Dominican Republic project, which improves sexual and reproductive health in the Caribbean. Until recently, Mr. Winger served as Deputy Director for the POUZN Project, which focused on promoting the use of public-private partnerships to increase the utilization of point-of-use and zinc products to decrease the incidence and severity of childhood diarrhea. He led AED's participation in the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation's examination of private sector involvement in infant and young child feeding. Prior to joining AED (now FHI 360), Mr. Winger worked for Population Services International (PSI) for seven years. He spent five years living in the Balkans and Central America where he was Chief of Party for five separate country programs working in the areas of sexual and reproductive health, HIV/AIDS prevention, and maternal/child health. He was also Special Assistant to the President of PSI. Prior to PSI, Mr. Winger spent five years as a management consultant working for both Accenture (then Andersen Consulting) and PriceWaterhouseCoopers.  Mr. Winger holds a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Marketing from the University of Michigan and a Master's Degree in Development Economics from the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at Tufts University in Massachusetts. He is fluent in Spanish.
