David Greeley, Expert in Public-Private Partnerships for Health, Joins AED

AED has appointed David Greeley as Vice President and Director of its Center for Private Sector Health Initiatives. Greeley brings 25 years of experience to AED: 10 with a Fortune 100 health care company and 15 working for international development and health NGOs. Most recently, he was responsible for Merck & Co., Inc.’s global HIV/AIDS programs, partnerships, policy, communications and stakeholder relations in its Office of Corporate Responsibility. Prior to that, Greeley directed Merck’s public affairs and policy work in Latin America and the Caribbean.

"Greeley’s extensive experience in working with both the for-profit private sector and NGOs on major health issues further strengthens AED’s leadership in the international health arena,” said Margaret Burns Parlato, Senior Vice President and Director of the AED Global Health, Population, and Nutrition Group. She added that in many developing countries, close to half of the population in the lowest economic quintile receives health care from private, for-profit providers.

Before joining Merck, Greeley worked for international development organizations CARE and Population Services International, which included long-term assignments in Indonesia, Belize, Niger and India. Greeley established and grew PSI’s new business development department, was PSI’s country director in India, and then directed all of PSI’s programs in Asia.

Jeffrey L. Sturchio, president and CEO of the Global Health Council, said, "David Greeley has a unique combination of experience in the business and non-profit worlds…. He has a proven track record of leading teams to achieve ambitious goals and bringing innovative approaches to bear on a wide range of issues.”

“I am honored to have the opportunity to lead AED’s efforts in developing public-private partnerships to address global health issues,” Greeley said. “Our mission is to improve health outcomes by finding solutions in partnership with the private sector.”
